Low Smoke, Low fume (No smoke , no fume ): Toxic Smoke not generated. Meets IEC61034-2, BS 76 22 and BS 7846 by conducting 3 Meter Cube test .Practically cables/wires being fire resistant don’t generate any smoke nor any fumes.
Chemical Resistance: Wires were found resistant to varying concentration of HNO3, TBP (30%) and the tests were performed on wires supplied to NCC. Minor detrimental influence on mechanical properties was observed. Compared to that the imported wires (Axon Cables from France) demonstrated drastic reduction in elongation at break %.
Superior in burning to flame retardant wires which catch fire initially. Generally wires for use in NPP are flame retardant. These catch fire but flame extinguishes within a minute In case of our cables/wires cable insulation and sheath do not catch fire at all. Meets IEC60332 Part -1(Test on Electrical cables under Fire conditions), Circuit Integrity test (BS 6387 C, W and Z), copies attached.
Limiting Oxygen Index: It is designed to determine Percentage of oxygen concentration required to burn plastics (ASTM –D 2863).In general LOI of fire resistant plastics ranges between 30 % to 38% .Ordinary wires insulation will burn in atmospheric 21 % oxygen .These insulations are much superior to flame retardant counterparts because latter burn in air and extinguish in 30 seconds or more depending on UL 94 V standard and their LOI may range between 25 to 29. LOI of our insulation is around 40.
